about

These are four pieces of music that I have held onto for the past decade in the form they will be released here. The first two tracks have been released in one form or another: The eponymous "The Worldless" has had a version previously released with the ending faded out; in this version, it will lead right into "This Temple On Earth". The latter piece was released before when the project was still called Hellequin and is revisited here.

Both of the above first two tracks on the album will have noticeably different production quality than the latter two, due to them being mixed by an experienced collaborator (Max Petrosky). You may have to turn the volume up a bit for the second half of the tracks.

The reason I am releasing these now is that after a decade of desperately searching for a vocalist or vocalists for these songs with no progress, I have decided to release what recorded material I have. These songs will be re-invented and eventually re-released with compositional modifications, better recording technology, and this time definitely vocals, along with the rest of the yet-unrecorded songs originally meant to be on the same demo album.

In these songs you will hear my breakthroughs as well as my mistaken decisions. Everything, at least at the time of recording, is where it is meant to be - every sound, structure, time signature and length. These four songs represent hard lessons learned over a decade of attempting to do what I love. This release is an ultimatum: The Worldless will return stronger than it used to be.

After the release of 'Without An Exit', the immediate plans of The Worldless is to work on an already in-progress album that will be purposefully all-instrumental, then will ease into vocalist-oriented composition, then these pieces will be re-invented, re-composed, and given a proper full-length release.

I hope you will enjoy this collection of eccentric pieces of music for what it is. -Vernon
